About this project

The Evidencing Rural Need project provides the summary information needed to effectively represent rural issues in local and regional programme strategy, planning and prioritization. Developed by ACRE, its members in Rural Community Action Network (RCAN), and Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion, it shows the real socio-economic picture of rural England - its areas of deprivation, the economy and access to services.

Help and resources

ACRE and the Rural Community Action Network have developed guidance and other resources to help you use the evidence on this website to support local rural working. The resources include video tutorials describing how to read the data and reports and policy influencing tips. We have also produced promotional material and case studies showing how the resource has been used.

If you are interested in finding out more about our Rural Evidence Reports but are not a Rural Community Action Network Member, please contact your local RCAN Member for advice and to discuss whether they can share reports or data with you.
